Joan Walsh Hands Out New Anti-Obama, Pro-Hillary, "That's Sexist!" Writing Assignments for Salon Staff

It may be summer, but the living is not easy over at Salon.com. That's right, no rest for the weary, even after grueling primary coverage, because there are ad clicks to generate, and outraged letters to inspire!!

Here's Joan Walsh's latest memo to staff, outlining the top secret story ideas she has planned -- ones that will reflect the new Salon-wide policy of finding anti-Obama, pro-Hillary or "that's sexist!" angles in every story until the Inauguration.

Beautiful. Apparently too many of Salon's writers got this memo.

God Traister & Shapiro's RNC/PUMA troll magnets are up and the one hit 'No Quarter' wonders are out like never before, cutting and pasting spam like good little piggies. Its the worst I've seen it. In fact, with Traister's thread I decided to try something new...fighting spam with spam!

Under my new alias Veruco Salt I've ben posting recipies, movie quotes, random gibberish from Project Gutenberg, etc. The trolls are not amused!

Try it for yourself...its fun. I might get banned but it won't be the first time...got banned as Villemar after I criticized one of Joan's concern troll post as devolving the level of discussion to that of an AOL message board, a Yahoo message board, or the Yuba City Craigslist's Rants & Raves board. She wasn't amused!

I can't tell if it's just me or Salon has just tipped into obscurity but I'll be interested to see if one of Joan's posts will generate 700 comments again.

In scanning some of the pieces and comments up there I'm noticing that many folks are absent from the community of commenters, and not just the trolls, the people who put a lot of time and energy into their comments.

Does anyone here think that Salon and Joan have done serious damage to themselves during the primary season?

I realize asking that here is not going to get me the most objective answers but I do think something tipped. But, maybe it's just me. What think you all?

Um, well yeah. I've been a Salon reader for 10 years, pissed off at it for the past two. But I think it's now finally, seriously actually broken. The only one doing any original thinking is Glen Greenwald--everybody else is just chattering MSM talking points. It's like somebody switched off the brain switch over there.

They're even getting made fun of on Huffington Post and Wonkette now.

I'm glad I'm not alone in my thinking. I'm a charter subscriber to Salon as well and used to give subscriptions as gifts and push it hard with everyone I know. I'm done now. I really do think Joan has made a serious mistake in the way she's handled things recently.

I remember reading Salon during Clinton's impeachment and I never got worked up like this and I was plenty mad, but not at Salon. Now I'm mad at Salon.

Yes, Glenn is a serious journalist, Joan is a TV journalist who runs a web site. She should cut loose from Salon, take the job on TV and let a serious journalist run the site.

Woo hoo! I did get banned from Salon for fighting spam with spam. No more Veruco Salt! Oh well, it was worth it to wreck Traister's suck-ass PUMA piece with recipes, movie quotes, etc.

Someone said that Joan is using the letter responses to her articles as justification for her appeal to MSNBC. I certainly hope the brass at MSNBC looks at the letters thread and sees Traisters and realizes it is a whole lot of nothing, just a bile magnet for No Quarter trolls.

I'm pretty sure I had the honor of having a few of my comments deleted on Salon (by Joan I assume as they were on her posts) but banned, wow, that's the highest honor there is.

How does banning work? Do they notify you that you crossed a line or you simply can't post comments anymore?

Congratulations.

Villemar -- that's a drag. I was really enjoying Veruco Salt's wit and insights.

I'm really appalled that they've banned you. I can get them banning the psychos -- but they're getting all Soviet on people and just exiling people who don't agree with Joan?

If so, why haven't they banned a good chunk of folks -- the ones who disagree with Joan and DON'T include little love notes along with it to kiss up to her?

Villemar said...

Heh when I logged in as Veruco it said "according to our database you letter writing priveleges have been revoked" or something like that. Which I'm okay with, I spammed the hell out of that thing. I definately crossed a line. But threads like that warrent spam because its nothing but an Operation Chaos Phase Two spam magnet anyways.

But the good news is I'm able to log in as Villemar again! And, Joan hopped in and closed the thread! Haha. Right after I got one last dig in about how a Bazooka Joe comic has more value than the entire thread. Mission Accomplished!

Villemar, I got my ass banned too, and can now no longer post, as I used to treat Joan's Op Ed pieces with all the solemnity, of a cheesy little Las Vegas Dean Martin celebrity star roast. You may remember me, I used to go by the handle of Manos99, but I got kicked out of Salon letters, for practicing the evils of thought crime.

Villemar said...

Manos! Hells yeah. Banning you is crazy, you never said anything hateful, in fact Joan even complemented you a few times. Yet Shawnie baby lasted many months and KateTex is rockin and rollin.

Listen carefully: Get a new account with a new name.

HOWEVER do NOT list your new psudeonym here. Joan reads this and saw that I was able to relog as Villemar and promptly banned. So I am alive again but on the d/l.

Love Dino!

Sincerely,
Joey Bishop

villemar, always liked the thrust of your no bullshit letters, as Katex, AkaSmith, and others, vainly tried to proove us to be our masterly matriarchal, social betters. I love this parody site because it uses the lethal weapon of humor, to deal with Walsh's tabloid rag as a grind mill for grunting out, the cheapest of rumors.

By the way, what's a PUMA? Is that the same as MILFs for the American way?

JOAN WALSH IS REPREHENSIBLE

she diminishes true instances of gender bias ... hillary and geraldine -- so poor and oppressed ... gimme a break ...
